Marine Engineering Industry

Every project is unique when it comes to Marine industry, applications, requirements, size, specifically in design where the critical optimization of maximum load and speed which is required for various applications of the type of vessels used in specific countries. We work with a wide variety of customers, applications and company sizes on a daily basis, making the most of your assets requires focused efforts in all areas, from inventory optimization to maintenance planning. Explore opportunities for improved productivity through our extensive asset management services.  Optimal mechanical maintenance requires precision and safety – from new machine installation to end-of-life dismounting. Helping you comply with environmental and safety regulations; we offer the following mechanical maintenance services:

Mounting and dismounting

If machines are to perform well over extended periods, it's vital to use the correct mounting methods. Correct installation not only means good product quality, but often reduced energy consumption as well. Trade Power India has several mounting products available, each with their specific technical and economical advantages for different foundations, applications and requirements.

Bearing mounting and dismounting

Mounting is one of the critical stages of the bearing’s life cycle. If the bearing is not mounted properly using the correct method and tools, the bearing’s service lifetime will be reduced. Around 16% of all premature bearing failures are a result of poor fitting or using incorrect mounting techniques.

At some point, the bearing will reach the end of its service life and will have to be replaced. Although the bearing may not be used again, it is extremely important to dismount it correctly so that the service life of the replacement bearing is not compromised. Firstly, the use of proper dismounting methods and tools will help prevent damage to other machine components, such as the shaft and housing, which are often re–used. Secondly, incorrect dismounting techniques can be hazardous to the operator.

Precision alignment

There are many factors to consider for optimal functionality and long service life for bearings, couplings, mechanical seals and other machine elements. A key factor is machinery alignment. We determine the choice of engines, gearboxes, shafts and propellers to offer the correct alignment of engine power and trust with gearbox ratio.

Misalignment is a major contributor to premature breakdown in rotating machines; when machines are not accurately aligned, the result is often shaft misalignment – which can lead to unplanned service stops or premature bearing and seal failure. By ensuring accurate shaft positioning in your various vessels and customer needs, you can also prevent:

  • Premature shaft and coupling failure
  • Excessive seal lubricant leakage
  • Failure of coupling & foundation bolts
  • Increased vibration & noise
  • Increased friction that causes higher energy consumption

Our service engineers can determine the causes of misalignment in your machinery and perform an accurate shaft alignment to prevent future malfunctions. When conducting shaft alignment, we provide:

  • Inspection of machine frames according to ISO IT5
  • Measurement for potential parallel and angular misalignment
  • Inspection & elimination of potential soft foot problems
  • Shimming or chocking of machines with high precision, stainless steel machine shims or chocking solutions
  • Turning of relevant machine components to correct positions

All our machine alignment services include a final report with measurement documentation

Balancing

In rotating equipment, unbalance occurs when the geometric centre does not correspond with the centre of mass. Upon rotation, this leads to unbalance forces that quickly increase with RPM. This creates stress and vibration in your equipment, which in turn affects component service life, consumes energy, and can cause problems for attachment points and electrical installations. An unbalanced piece of equipment can quickly result in safety risks, wear, production loss, or quality problems, and should be promptly corrected.

Precision balancing can lower your maintenance costs and optimize machine running time. Our service engineers can provide various types of on-site balancing tasks with the aim to determine and eliminate the cause of unbalance – thereby reducing potential failures, wear, and quality and production losses.   In all our balancing services, we include:

  • Measurement of vibration levels in accordance with ISO 10816.
  • Simultaneous measurements to eliminate any bearing damage
  • Investigation of frame/structure with regard to problems with resonance
  • Performance of balancing
  • Report on work conducted and results

If not otherwise agreed beforehand, you will be required to provide mechanics for welding balancing weights.
